The NXTGN approach to digitisation
Digitisation cannot be achieved from 0 to 100 per cent at the push of a button. What is needed is a multitude of small steps towards complete digitalisation. To determine the status quo within a company, we divide it into four levels - from isolated systems to complete digital transformation.
The levels are divided as follows:
- Level 1: Isolated
Data is kept in individual silos. Although there are isolated interfaces, there is no continuous data flow between the systems, or only partial and delayed data flow. Accordingly, insights, e.g. in the form of KPIs, can only be gained from the existing subsets.
- Level 2: Connected
Data is exchanged between the data silos in real time. The BI evaluations access a consolidated database. The evaluations provide insight into the past ("What happened?"). Future forecasts or the use of external sources for data enrichment and the associated predictive analyses do not take place.
- Level 3: Analyzed
Compared to the Connected level, added value is generated for users here through the use of predictive analyses and machine learning models in order to be able to answer questions such as "What could happen?". The intelligent use of data is accompanied by proactive support for users.
- Level 4: Transformed
At this level, all business-relevant processes are fully digitalised. In addition to the information and KPIs obtained so far, e.g. from the ERP, CRM system, sensor data from the plants and production processes are also used if necessary. Partners and customers are also fully integrated into the digitalised processes.
